3 Great Family-Friendly Resorts within 4 hours of Charlotte

3 Great Family-Friendly Resorts within 4 hours drive of Charlotte

Are you planning spring break or summer vacations? Here are three of our family’s favorite driveable resorts that we’ve stayed at several times. These all have great amenities for families and are beautiful properties. The price points can be on the higher end during high season but all three provide a very high end experience.

Check out my Instagram Reel to see more about these three resorts.

The Westin in Hilton Head, SC @westinhhi

Located in a more secluded area of Hilton Head, this oceanfront resort is a wonderful option for families who want a relaxing beach vacation with plenty of on-site amenities. The Westin offers multiple pools, including kid-friendly options, along with direct beach access that makes it easy to go back and forth between the sand and the resort throughout the day.

Families will appreciate the variety of dining options, from casual bites to sit-down restaurants, plus a convenient coffee shop for quick mornings before heading out. The resort also features a full-service spa, making it a great choice for parents who want a little downtime while still traveling with kids. Recently renovated rooms feel fresh and spacious, and the beautifully maintained grounds give the entire property a calm, resort-style feel.

This is a great pick if you’re looking for a slower-paced, beach-forward getaway where everything you need is right on site. We’ve stayed here 5-6 times and always love it!

The Dollywood Dreammore Resort in Pigeon Forge, TN @dollywood

Located directly on the property of Dollywood Theme Park, the DreamMore Resort is an ideal choice for families planning a Dollywood-focused trip. One of the biggest perks is the complimentary transportation to and from the theme park, which makes park days easier and eliminates the need to worry about parking or driving after a long day.

The resort itself is extremely family-friendly, with heated indoor and outdoor pools, a splash pad, and a playground that gives kids plenty of space to burn off energy. DreamMore also offers a full lineup of on-site family activities, including a popular nightly storytime, live entertainment, and seasonal programming that keeps kids engaged even when you’re not in the parks.

Families will appreciate the variety of dining options available on property, as well as the thoughtfully designed family bunk-bed rooms, which make bedtime easier and give kids a space of their own. With its welcoming atmosphere, convenient location, and abundance of kid-focused amenities, DreamMore Resort is a great option for families who want the magic of Dollywood paired with a comfortable, resort-style stay.

The Sweetgrass Inn in Isle of Palms, SC @wilddunesresort

The Sweetgrass Inn offers a more elevated resort experience within Wild Dunes Resort, making it a great option for families who want both convenience and a polished, upscale feel. Accommodations range from traditional hotel rooms to condo-style layouts with separate living spaces and kitchens, which is especially helpful when traveling with kids.

One of the highlights for families is the zero-entry pool and splash pad, perfect for younger children who want to safely play and cool off. The resort also features multiple restaurants and shopping options located in a charming town-center-style area, so it’s easy to grab a meal, coffee, or quick essentials without ever leaving the property. Parents will also appreciate the on-site spa and the variety of family-friendly activities offered throughout the week.

While Sweetgrass Inn is not technically oceanfront, the beach is just a very short walk away, making it easy to enjoy beach time without the higher price tag of true oceanfront accommodations. This resort is ideal for families looking for a walkable, amenity-rich stay that balances relaxation and kid-friendly fun.
