Cooper’s Nursery

When I was pregnant I loved to check out blogs and get ideas for my nursery so I thought I’d share about the design of Cooper’s nursery with links to where I purchased a lot my favorite items in the room.

Working on Cooper’s nursery was one of my favorite parts of being pregnant.  There is just something so special about working on the space where your little baby will sleep and spend so much of their time.  Even before we started decorating I remember standing in the empty room just thinking about what it was going to be like when he arrived.  As we started decorating I’d stop by the room before work every morning and just have a moment of excitement before leaving.

When thinking about the design I knew I wanted something very soft and simple avoiding an overall theme.  I liked the idea of picking things that could either be used for another baby regardless of gender or could transition with Cooper to a big boy room.  Once we found out we were having a boy I decided on gray and navy which would keep things fairly neutral and went to Pinterest to find ideas.

The crib was the first item we purchased for the room because I found it at a clearance sale at a high end baby boutique in Charlotte called Shower Me With Love and just had to buy it right then.  I fell in love with it immediately and it was a great deal at the time.  It looks like it’s sold out on their website but it can also be found here.

The crib bedding is from Pottery Barn (fitted sheet) and Restoration Hardware (bed skirt).  The mobile is from Buy Buy Baby which I can’t seem to find online and the navy “C” pillow was one of the many things I bought from Etsy.  I wasn’t sure how much we’d use the mobile but Cooper absolutely loves it and start watching it at a very young age.  I’d often place him in the crib and turn it on to entertain him while I pumped in the morning.

I knew I wanted his name above the bed and really wanted something softer than some of the block letters I typically see.  I came across this shop on Etsy and it was exactly what I was looking for.  It came as a natural wood color and Michael and I painted it white before hanging it on the wall.  I love how it turned out!

Etsy is a perfect site to do lots of nursery decor shopping since so many things can be personalized.  These blocks fit the room so well and I use them in many photos I take now.  I also bought the wall art on there and just loved these little sayings.  The art came as a printable download and then I bought mats and pictures frames at Michael’s.  I’m normally not very crafty but this was so easy (except for hanging them on the wall).

When putting together a nursery one of the most important aspects is the glider.  I spend so much time in this thing at all hours of the night and I am so glad we found one that looked nice but was also super comfortable.  I had  been looking at Pottery Barn but had a hard time paying their prices.  When I found this one at Babies R Us, I took a chance by buying online without trying it first and was so happy when it arrived.  You also must have some type of ottoman to rest your feet and I bought this pouf at World Market.

Another practical item are the curtains which are blackout from Pottery Barn.  These are awesome because they look nice but also block out all the light during the day which makes him sleep better!

I wanted at least one fun item in the room and that is the giraffe :).  I had been looking for them online but hadn’t purchased one yet and to my surprise someone ended up buying one for me at my Galax shower.  I couldn’t believe someone thought to get it without even knowing I wanted one!  It worked out perfectly.  Cooper loves that giraffe!

Last but not least one of the most convenient items in the room is the blue touch lamp on the changing table.  It is so nice to be able to quickly touch it either while holding Cooper or running into the room when he is crying and not having to search for a switch.  I would high recommend buying a touch lamp and I found this one at Target.

Overall I’m just so happy with how things turned out and think the design can transition with him as he gets older.  Here are links to find other favorite items in the room and a few more photos.  Oh how sometimes I miss those newborn days!
