Guide to Charlotte Area Splash Pads

With Memorial Weekend approaching and the high summer temps here in the Charlotte area, it’s time to talk about splash pads! I’ve put together this guide that includes most of our local splash pads with info on openings dates and hours. If you don’t already follow me on Instagram for lots of family activity ideas in Charlotte. Enjoy!

My Favorites:

Pineville Lake Park – Pineville, NC

This park has three awesome playgrounds and one of the best splash pads around. The splash pad is located by the upper parking lot and has all kind of different sprayers and lots of room to run around. I also love that some shade is provided.

Dates/Hours: Open from May 29th through Labor Day. Mon-Wed-Fri: 10am-7pm, Tue-Thu: 12pm-7pm, Saturday: 10am-6pm, Sunday: 1pm-6pm

Pineville Lake Park

Crooked Creek Park – Indian Trail, NC

This is another great playground and splash pad combo located just south of Matthews in Indian Trail. This fully fenced splash pad is huge and has lot of different sprayers for kids. This one is worth a drive if you don’t live close by!

Dates/Hours: Opening Saturday, May 29th. Openly daily 9am-7pm with some maintenance done on Tuesday so check their Facebook page before you go.

Crooked Creek Park

First Ward Park – Uptown Charlotte

This park and splash pad (no playground) is located in uptown and has lots of sprayers that shoot from the ground right next to a large green space. It’s located across the street from 7th Street Market, a Light Rail station, and ImaginOn so you can add on some other fun activities while visiting. There are lots of convenient garage and street parking options in this area.

Dates/Hours: Opening Friday, May 28th through Labor Day

First Ward Park

Stallings Park – Stallings, NC

This park has three different playground areas and a large open splash pad with big sprayers.

Dates/Hours: An official splash pad opening hasn’t been announced yet but they do plan to open sometime early summer. I’ll post an update once we know more.

Stallings Park

Blakeney Shopping Center – South Charlotte

This shopping center has a small splash pad and playground area for kids. I love that it’s located right by several kid-friendly restaurants and a large fountain with seating around.

Dates/Hours: Now open. Hour are 9am-9pm Daily.

Other Good Options:

Romare Bearden Park – Uptown Charlotte

This park is located in the center of Uptown by the baseball stadium and offers beautiful city views. This is a small splash pad area with a few sprayers and waterfalls. This park has a large open field that is great for running around or playing games.

Dates/Hours: Opening Friday, May 28th through Labor Day

Latta Park – Dilworth Charlotte

This park is located right in the heart of Dilworth and offers a fully fenced splash pad and playground.

Dates/Hours: Opens Friday, May 28th through Labor Day.

The Green – Uptown Charlotte

Located right in the center of uptown by the Mint Museum this is a small green space with a three fish fountain structure that sprays water. During the summer months kids can play in the water and lawn area.

Dates/Hours: Memorial Weekend through Labor Day

Birkdale Splash Pad – Huntersville, NC

Currently Under Maintenance:

Veterans Park – Plaza Midwood Charlotte

This one is being completely redone and should finish sometime mid-summer for opening.

Waverly Shopping Center – South Charlotte

The splash pad area is currently under construction and should open up sometime mid-summer.
